Brake Bleeding
- Brake bleeding for either Sram/shimano and on both mtb/road
Have you ever experienced rock hard brakes, spongy brakes, fade away brakes or put your hand up if you've ever owned a pair of exploding Hayes 9 brakes.. To be honest, it's a fairly simple process with hydro brakes, you pull the lever at one end, oil moves through the system forcing the pistons out and compressing the pads at the other end... easy yeah, so why do we get noises and performance issues then? We'll run through it all here with our first Pro tutorial! Having the correct preparation and tools before starting this service, is key to ensuring a successful outcome. Hygroscopic fluid, especially DOT fluids are extremely carcinogenic to humans and have an acid like aggressiveness towards paint and rubber, so extreme care and safety protection must be used. We'll be touching on fluids and their properties when it comes to longevity, heat and safety. You'll be learning the steps on how to flush out and top up fluid, fixing sticky pistons, fault detection and overall maintenance. At the end of this tutorial, i'll have a detailed list of all parts/tools used for you to acquire.
Crank & Bottom brackets

Your freshly washed and polished bike is now gleaming in the sun like a rare expensive jewel. You jump on it and start pedalling down the road till all of a sudden a noise starts appearing, a loud creaking/cracking noise coming from every pedal stroke... It sounds like your new dream bike is about to implode from right under you... Why? This is one of the most frustrating services we encounter regularly and in most cases it's no ones fault, it's just the nature of pressed in bearings reacting to the weather, dirt and moisture. Since the launch of bb30 nearly 15 years ago and after many long years of threaded bb cups coming to an end, we started seeing more frequented noise issues around that area. In this tutorial we'll run through the most commonly used bottom brackets and crank on the market, with the associated tools needed for fitment and service. We'll touch on the pros and cons for each styles, while identifying noises and vibrations issues along the way. This is a very powerful service to get under your belt, not only will you start gaining fantastic mechanical aptitude by learning exploded views but you'll also start taking control over your own bike.
Bearing installation

The humble bearing has been around since 1794! A long time but the technology around them has come in leaps and bounds since the 2000 era for the bike industry, making the servicing side more and more relevant to the overall performance of your bike. We'll touch on different types of bearings in on the market when it comes to longevity, side and top load pressure differences, needle/roller and ball bearing types. What to choose when it comes to compounds, like ceramic, steel and composites and do they really make a difference? We'll show you step by step the processes needed when pressing in and removing bearings. Don't be alarmed about some of the tools needed for this service, there are ways to upkeep the preventative maintenance, until it's time to bring it to us.
Fork installation
- Fork installation on either a road or mtb frame
All of your bike parts have now arrived, your excitement starts to alleviate as you're installing one after the other. You slip the fork into place through the headtube then start fitting the headset spacers one on top of the other until, with alarming eyes your heart drops... You can't believe it, you've cut the steerer way to short! You start searching for answers, why? Well you're not the first person to do this and you're definitely won't be the last. We'll show you the correct steps when creating the perfect height for both carbon and steel steerers. What tools and tricks to use ensuring everything lines up exactly where it should. How to finish off a cut on a carbon fork, what blades/tools to use when cutting either steel or carbon, how to install star nuts and expander plugs, lastly we'll run through headset play and how to get rid of it.
