Upcoming Sportif Events and Races

Here you will find a list of the upcoming sportif rides in Victoria along with any open races or ride challenges.

February 2012

2012 will see the inaugural Spokes Festival; a celebration of all things cycling!

This year all road rides will once again incorporate the infamous Australian National Road Championship Course at Mt Buninyong, providing cyclists across all levels the opportunity to pit themselves against the same course undertaken by 2011 Tour de France champion Cadel Evans.

In 2012 the Ballarat Spokes Cycle Classic will enter its fifth year. On the back of the tremendous success of last years event, we are expanding to a weekend festival to include BMX, downhill, endurance and Madison cycling events which will make up the inaugural ‘Spokes Festival’.

The 2012 Ballarat Spokes Cycle Classic will take place on Sunday the 12th of February 2012, whilst the remaining events that make up ‘Spokes’ will take place on Saturday the 11th. The Enduro and Madison events are state rounds, whilst the BMX event is a pro-am featuring some of the top riders from around the country!

March 2012

Mt Hotham Challenge Ride  - March 10-12th 2012

The Hotham Challenge Ride (formerly DP Festival of Cycling) is a 3 day cycling event based out of the picturesque village of Dinner Plain in North East Victoria. The event offers a unique opportunity for road cyclists to challenge themselves to descend and climb the Great Alpine Road, including the renowned Hotham Summit, in a fully supported environment. All aspects of the weekend are personalised to ensure you can achieve your personal best on your bike.

During the festival you will learn how to tackle alpine riding with a Ridewiser coaching clinic, gain tips at the mechanical workshop, and push your personal limits on the Hotham Challenge Ride. Topped off with great socialising and a leisurely ride followed by a relaxed lunch on the Monday, it’s the perfect long weekend of cycling, food, wine and friends.

October 2012

October 27-28, 2012. Riding through Victoria’s most inspiring landscapes in two days. You’ll proudly cycle out of majestic Melbourne as the urban landscape gradually gives way to the rolling hills and vineyard views of the world-class wine region of Yarra Valley. Sure, it sounds like a lot — and it’s meant to be. But make no mistake, this event isn’t just for athletes or cycling enthusiasts.
