bikeNOW provides skills sessions to a group called ‘Cogs Girls’ which encourages women of all abilities to get out and ride!
Cogs Girls was originally formed by Cycling Victoria to introduce women to road cycling in a friendly safe environment. The majority of women who join or just come along are beginners and as they become more experience and or faster, they move onto more experienced groups and there are plenty we can introduce you to.
The skills sessions on Saturday mornings are totally focused on those starting out and after about 3-12 months, depending on how much you ride, you too will be able to ride with almost any group but do it with style and pride.
The sessions are very rich in technique; we cater for different abilities which means you can join in with little to no fitness. We stop a lot and do activities so if you feel you are slow, you will not feel as you are slowing the group plus all participants are very supportive of each other.
The sessions often include coaching on safety and safe conduct in bunches, climbing, smooth riding technique and cornering. Basically all the building blocks and secrets to success will be covered until your ready for bigger and better things. After each session, we have the obligatory coffee at a chosen cafe.If you wish to join the group, you can register on the Yahoo Groups site. After joining you will be able receive all emails about the groups activities. Some members like to utilize the Facebook page as well. Check it out, join up and get involved with the discussions.
