Mountain Bike Trails (MTB)More than 25km of the trail network has been repaired and re-aligned to International Mountain Bike Association standards. Cutting edge designs enhance flow of the trails and new technical features provide a challenging bike experience while protecting the environmental values of the park in the long-term.
Rock Climbing, Abseiling and Orienteering Access trails leading to the main climbing sites are repaired. New drainage bars and retaining walls improve access to the Gravel Pit Tor, Urinal and Royalty Wall.
Running and Walking Tracks Severe rutting caused by heavy rains has been repaired with improved features such as boardwalks and long-term drainage solutions. An estimated 160m3 of gravel and 60m3 of rock have been laid down to restore 7 km of trails along the East West Walk and Branding Yard, and another 4 km along the Big Rock Walk.
Horse-riding The Western Plantation offers great riding opportunities on the looped trail that winds its way through to the Western picnic area which features new toilet facilities.
Drives – Great Circle Drive has been restored to provide the full spectrum of scenery available from the park, after severe rutting and erosion channels almost cut the road in half in some places. Roads have been graded and re-shaped, and more than 40 culverts replaced along the drive and secondary roads.
At Kurrajong Avenue and Big Rock car parks and roads have been upgraded and re-surfaced. A larger turning circle at Big Rock provides improved access for tour buses.
